October News from Gunthorpe W. I.
At our October meeting we welcomed Margaret Harrison who is a registered Nottingham guide. She talked to us about Goose Fair and its origins. It was a very informative and amusing story.
We are still actively seeking new members and have been pleased to welcome several visitors and potential new members recently.
On Wednesday 29th October Gunthorpe W.I. hosted a group meeting with Burton Joyce, East Bridgford, and Shelford in the Village Hall. After the meeting we were entertained by the Quercus Minor Octet, part of the Major Oak Chorus, barbershop harmony singers; Paul Jeffery stepping in at short notice to cover for one member who was absent. It was very enjoyable and melodic, details were taken by the group W.I.s for possible future events. Refreshments were then served to the 63 W.I. members present and also to the singers. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Forthcoming attraction our President Jenn. Bentley (W.I. qualified demonstrator) will be demonstrating:-
